1. Where is Kyrenia (Girne), and how far is it from the LA Hotel & Resort?
Kyrenia which is also referred to as Girne is located in the northern part of the island of Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean. It is part of the country of North Cyprus, known as the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. The LA Hotel & Resort is located 14 kilometers or 9 miles west of Kyrenia (Girne). The journey takes about 15 minutes by car.

2. Which North Cyprus airport do I fly into and how far is it from the resort?
Ercan Airport re-opened in spring 2004 after a major refurbishment bringing the airport up to European standards. . It is located outside of the capital of Nicosia (Lefkosa). By taxi it will take approximately 45 minutes to reach the LA Hotel & Resort. All flights to North Cyprus come via Turkey with a brief stop in the airport in either Antalya, Izmir, Dalaman or Istanbul (this stopover does not require a change of airplane).

3. Are transfers included in the room price?
Not usually, but check the inclusions on the RATES page. The LA Hotel & Resort can arrange roundtrip transfers from Ercan airport and also Larnaca airport in South Cyprus for you at a very competitive price.

4. Is travel insurance included in the room price?
The LA Hotel & Resort do not provide travel insurance, but recommend you arrange your own travel insurance before departure.

5. Can you arrange airfares for us?
Yes,The LA Hotel & Resort can book on your behalf airseats on both Onur Air and Cyprus Turkish Airlines from the United Kingdom airports they depart from. We can provide you with a fare from your chosen departure airport when you make your initial enquiry.

6. Can we collect a rental car at the airport?
The LA Hotel & Resort can arrange for you competitievly priced car hire When hiring a car for more than seven days, the car can be delivered to the airport free of charge. For seven or less days there is a £20 delivery charge.

7. Can I fly into the south of Cyprus and cross over to North Cyprus for my holiday?
Since 23rd April 2003 it has been possible to cross the border at designated checkpoints. However, the terms and conditions regarding border crossing are subject to change. It is therefore advisable to check the current position before making arrangments to use a South Cyprus airport as your entry and exit point. Currently, there are several crossing points along the border. These include the Ledra Palace in central Nicosia (Lefkosa) which is for pedestrians only and at nearby Kermia (Metehan) at which vehicles may cross. Please note if hiring a vehicle in the south, southern Cyprus insurance is not valid in the North and TRNC insurance must be purchased at the border crossing point.

8. Is there transport into Kyrenia (Girne)?
There is also a frequent bus (dolmush) service available immediately in front of the LA Hotel & Resort. These buses run regularly and are very inexpencive . During the winter months a courtesy bus service between LA Hotel & Resort and Kyrenia Harbour is available upon request.

9. How do I make a reservation?
Reservations for the LA Hotel & Resort can be made via e-mail, fax or telephone. The details are on the RESERVATIONS page.Discounts are available for those booking direct with LA Hotel & Resort.
Alternatively you can book through one of our preferred tour operators.

10. What about payment for my reservation?
To pay immediately you can use our online reservation form and manual (print and fax) form. A 50% deposit is payable on confirmation of the booking and the balance due 4 weeks before arrival. If we book the entire holiday, including the flights, the deposit will be payable when we confirm your flight with a flight reference number. You can also send us a sterling cheque by registered post. For credit card payments, exchange rate charges apply.

11. What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is by 12 noon. Earlier check-in and later check-out timess are subject to availability. A small charge is made for late check-out. Luggage can be stored at Reception.

12. What is the currency in North Cyprus?
The local currency is YTL (Yeni Turkish Lira) . However British Sterling Pounds, Euros and US dollar cash and traveller's cheques are widely accepted. You can also withdraw cash from some ATM machines. It is recommended not to bring too much local currency as you will receive a better currency exchange rate here.

13. Can I exchange foreign currency at the resort?
Traveller's cheques and most major international foreign currencies can be exchanged at the LA Hotel & Resort reception.

14. What is the electricity voltage and how many pin plugs?
Electricity is 240 volts. Rooms have three pin plugs, the same as in the United
Kingdom.

15. Do we bring our own towels and linens?
We provide all bath towels and linens. We also provide beach towels for guests use, but you may prefer to bring your own.

16. Is there a laundry service available?
Yes, the hotel operates a laundry service. Items received before 9am are returned the same day. (Local charge applies.)

17. Is breakfast Turkish or European style?
Breakfast at the LA Hotel & Resort is primarily Turkish, but we also offer European alternatives , including omelettes.
A full English breakfast can be ordered for a small charge.

18. Does the resort offer room service?
Yes, we operate a room service from early morning to late evening throughout the year.

19. Are there any restaurants nearby?
Dining at the LA Hotel & Resort can be enjoyed either at the beachside restaurant, at the hotel poolside or at the hotel restaurant. If however you wish to dine elsewhere, there are a number of restaurants within a 10 minute radius. There are also bars, markets and casinos nearby.

20. What kind of shopping items are popular in North Cyprus?
Popular souvenir items include copper, silver, bronze and onyx objects. Turkish dolls, merhaum pipes and backgammon (tavla) boards, jewellery, leather cloths and textiles are popular and reasonalby prices. You can find many kinds of Turkish Cypriot handicrafts as well, but the export of antiquties is illegal. General shop hours are 9am to 6pm.
